Opening the 2014 Campaign Season!

In our heads, the campaign season opens sometime in June when one of us starts thinking that it's time to count backwards from the campaign date to set up a timeline for when we will advertise the campaign position and set the year's plans in motion. On our desks, the campaign usually arrives in August when we draft the position and sift through ads. Of course, we think about the campaign when we plan our fundraising, now usually in April-May. Once the campaign team is is in place, usually around October, things start getting exciting and by November, panic is beginning to set in.

So why does campaign season open today? Because today is when we start blogging here. And this for us, marks our official season opening.

I want to introduce to you this year's wonderful Campaign Coordinator, Swetha Shankar. She comes to Prajnya more of a domain expert than any of us have been when we began doing this work. She is a trained counsellor and has worked with PCVC. She has an M.Phil. in conflict resolution and reconciliation from Trinity College, Dublin and her thesis was on sexual violence in conflict. And she recently worked with Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT) on a research project. We are delighted to have found Swetha, and it's already been a great pleasure working with her. Coming in later than usual, she is still managing to leave her individual mark on the campaign. So I welcome you back to this blog and to Swetha's campaign--the 2014 Prajnya 16 Days Campaign against Gender Violence!
